Idle Bloom are an indie rock four-piece that explores sound texture with cascading guitars, lush harmonies, propelling drums, and a fierce range of emotive sincerity. Founded in 2014, the band consists of guitarist/singer Olivia Scibelli, bassist Katie Banyay, drummer Weston Sparks, and guitarist/singer Gavin Schriver. They were named by Rolling Stone as “an underground Nashville band reclaiming Music City,” and have drawn comparisons to the Breeders, Anna Burch, Dinosaur JR., and Belly.
Years of touring DIY communities and venues nationwide has grown Idle Bloom into a tight group that is both captivatingly noisy and tunefully melodic. In 2015, they released their first EP Some Paranoia, followed by Little Deaths, their debut album in 2017.
Their sophomore LP, Flood the Dial, produced by Ben McLeod of All Them Witches, was recorded in an isolated cabin in Kingston Springs, TN over the course of a week. Due summer 2018, Flood the Dial is refreshingly anti-establishment, ardently hopeful, and catchy as hell. It addresses discordant themes in today’s overwhelming political landscape. Deliberate guitar hooks and deeply personal lyrics deliver tension and release in an increasingly chaotic world.
The band has played venues such as Baby’s All Right (BK) and The Roxy (LA) with acts including All Them Witches, Chastity Belt, Ought, Bully, Those Darlins, Sheer Mag, Jessica Lea Mayfield, Speedy Ortiz, and many more. Idle Bloom looks forward to continuing to tour and break the mold as they experiment refining sound.
“Draws comparisons to the Breeders and Get Up Kids, with hot-blooded riffs that dance over distorted fuzz to evoke Explosions in the Sky.” - Rolling Stone
“Idle Bloom is a band that's grown from its roots in the all-ages punk scene to become one of the city's most musically compelling and lyrically insightful ensembles.” - NPR
